Throughout our journey, the majestic Snæfellsjokull glacier graces our view, while we are enveloped by the unspoiled grandeur of towering mountains and picturesque fjords. As we traverse the coastal roads, we are treated to surreal landscapes featuring lava fields and mountains, showcasing a mesmerizing array of geological wonders.

Our day unfolds along the enchanting coastline, beginning with visits to the quaint hamlet of Arnarstapi, where magnificent sea cliffs and, during the summer season, bustling bird colonies captivate our senses. Along the shoreline, we take time to explore the ebony sands and volcanic rock formations at Djupalon, while pausing in secluded fishing villages nestled within sheltered bays, cradled by mountains. Our itinerary also includes stops at the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and the charming Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall.

Much of Snæfellsnes' allure lies in its natural history, with the potential for delightful encounters with seals, expansive bird colonies, and perhaps even whales along the coastline. As such, additional impromptu stops may be arranged, guided by the wildlife we encounter. The flexibility of these detours, at the discretion of your guide, adds an element of excitement and ensures a unique experience with each tour.

General tour description

This is a fully customizable tour so no two tours are alike, but the following is a general outline of how we normally operate our Snæfellsnes Peninsula tour:

We start our journey at arguably Iceland’s most reliable spot to see wild harbor seals, Ytri-tunga beach.

Continuing onward we will come toward another famous spot the black church at Búðir. Once it offered it’s services to local farmers and fishermen but now it is best known as a popular location for country weddings.

Next stop brings us to the charming village Arnarstapi, considdered by many to be Iceland’s most beautiful town. A great location for lunch or refreshments, but also offers endless great photo opportunities. There you will find some of Iceland’s most beautiful coastline and and the most charming little harbor.

After Arnarstapi we start driving towards the tip of the peninsula and underneath the famous Snæfelljökull glacier, impressive sight and showcases one of Iceland’s greatest forming powers, the crawling glaciers.

Last but certainly not least we visit the fairytale-like Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can experience the unique thrill of walking directly behind its misty cascade.

Somewhere along the way we will stop for lunch or refreshments. There are numerous options to chose from.
